All Saints Burbage - Fill the Gap

 

Fill the Gap is a regular Thursday lunchtime event in the church Centre in Burbage. Run by a small group from All Saints with plenty of co-opted help, we serve homemade soup with fresh rolls through the winter, changing to Ploughman's for May to July. (August is a holiday!)
	Numbers vary, usually about 35 people, all ages, babies to nineties! Lunch is a free gift from All Saints, but generous donations are gratefully received which, after basic costs are covered, are given to Trussell Trust and the Salvation Army.
We have been running since October 2007 and some 'extras' have included organising a food collection, shoeboxes, special collection for the Bridge project, hosting a breadmaking demonstration and all day refreshments on Election days.
	Fill the Gap has been running nearly 4 years. In that time we must have served well over 5000 lunches - WOW!
We have also, from the generous donations received, given away nearly £3000, again - WOW! Most of this has gone to the Trussell Trust which runs foodbanks, and to the Salvation Army to support their work with homeless people or those at a crisis point in their lives.
	We want to say thank you to everyone who has come for lunch, especially those who come as regulars.
If you have yet to try Fill the Gap out, you will be surprised at just what a great community event it has become. Occasionally we are unable to use the Church Centre because of an election, and we have served all day refreshments, as well as lunch on the Green - very well received by voters!
	Why not come along one week? Every Thursday 12 - 2pm in the Church Centre. May, June and July we will be serving our summer lunch Ploughman's style Great atmosphere, all ages welcome, come and join us!
