Services for May
This month we only have two services on the first two Sundays at St Andrew's Church. There are, however, Team or Deanery services nearby on the other two Sundays and in addition there is the usual open air service at Chute Causeway on Ascension Day.
For those who struggle to understand the relationships between Parishes, Teams and the Deanery, Pewsey Deanery is split into two main teams, the Pewsey & Swanborough Team, consisting of 12 parishes, and the Savernake Teram consisting of 11 parishes. The Parish of Collingbourne Ducis and Everleigh is part of the Savernake Team which includes Great Bedwyn (where the Team Rector resides), Little Bedwyn, Burbage, Collingbourne Kingston, Ham and Buttermere, Shalbourne, St Katherines, Tidcombe and Fosbury, and of course Chute and East Grafton where the Team services are being held this month. These services are always well attended and fulfilling and the one at East Grafton is being led by the Archdeacon of Wiltshire. Anyone who would like a lift to those services or wishes to know more about them should speak to the churchwardens.
Annual Church Meetings
At the Annual Church Meetings last month Peter Siggers and Julian Price were elected churchwardens and Richard Carter, Lindie Rogers and Sue Bamber were elected onto the PCC. Trish Leigh and Sarah Finch indicated they would be happy to be co-opted on to the committee at the next PCC meeting.
MIke and Anna Cox, Carol Chandler, Natalie Williams and Phyllis Richards all retired and were thanked for all the good work they have done during their term of office. Mike and Anna's contribution, in particular, will be a hard act to follow. The challenges ahead were discussed at length and will be addressed by the new committee.
The Trussell Trust
The Trussell Trust continues to be very grateful for food donated by the church. At the present time they are short of tinned fish, fruit juice, long life milk, potatoes (mash or tinned) and sugar.
